The Trader Joe’s controversy in northeast Portland is not over. Several business owners and neighborhood groups are calling for the revival of that project. And, the African American Leadership Forum hosted a standing-room-only crowd Tuesday night for a discussion of what comes next.

A coalition of development supporters has sent a letter to city officials which reads:

“It’s time to stop acting as if our only option for investment in North/Northeast is to choose between a commitment to economic development that will create jobs for minority and local small business or the generation of truly affordable housing that helps preserve the historical legacy of its neighborhoods. …We stand united in our belief that we can do both.”

The Oregonian reports on what’s being done to resurrect the Trader Joe’s Project.
