June is upon us, which means it is time to celebrate the summertime and our LGBGTQ+ communities here in Portland!

Waterfront Park—which hosts the annual Pride Festival—has pushed back their event to July, but never fear! There are tons more ways to celebrate this month.

On June 3rd & 4th, Portland’s Indigenous Marketplace will be celebrating Pride Month with live music, snacks, and tons of awesome vendors worth checking out. They’ll be open from 11 AM-4 PM and stationed at PSU’s Native American Student Center.

If you’re in the market for new ink, Sanctuary Tattoo in South East Portland is having a month-long raffle, and the winner receives a $200 gift certificate towards a new tattoo! The entry ticket is $5, and all proceeds go to Q Center—a local non-profit community center seeking to support LGBTQ+ individuals in the Portland area. If you’re interested in learning more about their mission or volunteering, their website features a variety of resources and an easy application for potential helpers!

Can’t make any events, but looking for some LGBTQ+ businesses to support? We’ve got you covered.

Ragan’s Boutique in the Hollywood area is a clothing store offering unique styles and sizes. Plus, they have events happening all year-round. Coming up on June 16th is a mannequin styling event just for kids!

If you’re on the lookout for some home improvement, Lounge Lizard in SE Hawthorne sells vintage furniture and home decor and is available for in-person and online shopping.

It’s a true fact of life that we’re always searching for the perfect breakfast spot, and Cadillac Cafe in North East Portland serves it all day long. Their menu is filled with diner classics and a generous drink menu.

This couldn’t possibly be a signed and sealed message from PRP without some music recommendations. Luckily, the city is filled with LGBTQ+ artists offering a variety of fantastic tracks of all genres. PNW artists like Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, and Bratmobile paved the way for local artists to truly impact their communities, and we are always grateful for the plethora of talent that exists here in Portland!

Rascal Miles is an artist of the indie rock/folk-punk variety and has been releasing music since 2017. Aside from taking the folk genre and giving it a unique spin, Miles has also received acclaim from a fellow folk contemporary, Phoebe Bridgers, on their NPR Tiny Desk Performance!

Katelyn Converey, also from Portland, has experimented with genres spanning from acoustic pop-rock to electronic house music. Her discography has been growing since 2015 and continues to showcase her chops on the guitar and versatile set of tracks for all music lovers alike.

We are glad to say both artists have been featured on one of PDX Pop Now!’s music compilations.

Mango Lynx, whose first release came out in 2020, truly does it all. She is a singer-songwriter, producer, dancer, choreographer, and creative director. Discovered by fans of artists like Coco & Clair Clair, Kali Uchis, and Charli XCX, Lynx makes music truly guaranteeing a good time.

However you plan to kick off the summer, show your LGBTQ+ community—which is big and bright in Portland—some love!
