Jimmy Carter has been in Portland promoting his new book about the abuse of women and girls around the world. A throng of fans turned out for the 89-year-old former president’s book signing at Powell’s Sunday. “A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power” estimates that 100,000 girls were sold into sexual slavery last year in America alone.
