We continue our deep dive into Music Workshop‘s Soundwaves concert series with a Drop-In Session featuring award-winning singer/songwriter Ron Artis II,

In case you missed our first couple DIS’ about Soundwaves, you can listen to our interview with Music Workshop’s Amy Richter as well as our chat with Soundwaves performer Claire Finley of the Playing for Change Band who played on July 18th (it was a phenomenal show!).

These free shows at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts continue on July 25th and 26th with performances by Ron Artis II and the Truth. Along with incredible live music, there is a Q&A navigated by the series’ emcee local high school student Melanie Rosales Del Cid. The concerts will be recorded and shared as educational content to Music Workshop’s network of over 11,300 teachers, reaching over 4.3 million students in all 50 states and 99 countries. And these Soundwaves concerts are FREE!!!!

We got the chance to speak with Ron Artis II for our latest Sounds of PDX; Ron was in Nashville, creating new music (YAY!) but through the power of technology, we chatted about navigating balance as a performer, parent & husband, heard some tunes (including new song “Revival” and old fav “Loving You” ) and his excitement about being a part of the Soundwaves experience. Listen to our interview ⬇️⬇️⬇️

If you’re not familiar with Ron’s music, or would like to dive a bit deeper into the inspiration behind his musical journey, check out “Reason” – a documentary about “traveling, touring & navigating life with purpose”. We spoke briefly about the impetus behind the film in our drop-in session ⬇️ however it’s a worthy 20 minute journey on the road with this uniquely soulful and honest songwriter.

AND THEN OF COURSE….grab your FREE tickets (you do need to reserve your tickets) to see Ron Artis II and The Truth LIVE at The Reser on July 25th and/or 26th. Bring the kids, enjoy the music and celebrate the power of the arts!

This Drop-in Session was made possible in part by grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust and The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation.
