We continue our deep dive into Music Workshop‘s Soundwaves concert series with a Drop-In Session featuring Claire Finley, electric bassist for the Playing for Change Band.

In case you missed our first DIS about Soundwaves you can listen to our interview with Music Workshop’s Amy Richter the heart and soul behind this FREE concert for youth series, but here’s a quick recap….

These free shows at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts are being held July 18th, 25th and the 26th with performances by The Playing for Change Band and Ron Artis II and the Truth. Along with incredible live music, there is a Q&A navigated by the series’ emcee local high school student Melanie Rosales Del Cid. The concerts will be recorded and shared as educational content to Music Workshop’s network of over 11,300 teachers, reaching over 4.3 million students in all 50 states and 99 countries. And these Soundwaves concerts are FREE!!!!

Claire Finley along with her other Playing for Change bandmates are slated to play on July 18th at 11:30am and 6:30pm. Playing for Change is an organization created to inspire and connect the world through music. The idea for this project came from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The band is a collection of musicians from different countries and cultures, however through music they speak the same language. The PFC band now tours the world, spreading a message of love and hope to audiences everywhere.

Check out our interview with Claire ⬇️⬇️⬇️ – we heard a couple awesome PFC tunes “BiBamba” and “Run” – and then reserve your free tickets TODAY! And stay tuned to PRP’s Sounds of PDX for our next DIS featuring Soundwaves’ performer Ron Artis II.

This Drop-in Session was made possible in part by grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust and The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation.
