So you want to be in pictures? Documentary weekend is here. (Postponed during summer, the event has been rescheduled: Friday and Saturday, September 26-27, 2014.)

NedSpace Morrison, one of Portland’s collaborative work spaces, is bringing people with no experience whatsoever together with skilled producers, actors, editors, directors, and film crews. They will share ideas, inspire one another, form teams, create then premiere their work.

Organizer Mark Grimes says, “You start Friday evening with interactive exercises help identify talent, skills, experience you have and helps warm up participants for working together. Exercises also uncover creative ideas people are jonesing to showcase through film. You’ll get a sense of who you’ll want to work with. On Saturday you form teams, then those teams are assigned documentary topics, and then it gets wild. It’s all fun!”

Documentary weekend, September 26-27, is a 30-hour event. Whether you’re a dabbler or want to get serious about making a documentary, organizers promise you will create, shoot, edit, produce and premiere your documentary before the event is over. Bring smart phones, tablets, whatever portable devices you want to use to produce your documentary.

Documentary weekend will be held at Ned Space Morrison, 619 S.W 11th, suite 250, in Portland, from 4:30 p.m. Friday, September 26, until 9:30 p.m. Saturday, September 27. The cost is $35.
