Apple is taking steps to build solar power-generating facilities on 200 acres near Prineville, in Central Oregon’s high desert. The Oregonian reports, even though Apple doesn’t own the property, it apparently has an option to buy it – adjacent to Apple’s new nearly-completed data center there. The data center was one of many flocking to Oregon (Google, Facebook, Amazon, along with Apple) because of state “enterprise zone” tax breaks. The City of Prineville and Crook County have now expanded the Apple data center’s tax breaks to the solar farm.
