We may find out this week if Oregon Senator Ron Wyden will become chair of the powerful Senate Finance Committee. The current chair, Max Baucus, is expected to be confirmed Tuesday as ambassador to China, and Wyden’s in line for his old position. The Oregonian reports Wyden is being “coy” as to whether he’ll seek the job. Oregon hasn’t held the chairmanship since the days of Senator Bob Packwood in the early 90s.
