In response to growing inequality and poverty, Oregon business leaders have called for the state to overhaul its tax policies for low income earners.

According to Oregon Live, this recommendations comes as part of a four-part report by ECONorthwest, which is set to be released today at the 11th annual Oregon Leadership Summit.

The report shows that as low income earners make more money, they lose access to food stamps and welfare while their tax responsibilities continue to grow.

Governor Kitzhaber, who is expected to announce that he will seek a fourth term, says tax reform is one of his top priorities.
