The Canadian Institute of Diversity has launched a video response to Russia’s anti-gay stance, to coincide with the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The video shows two athletes performing the customary luge starting movement, sliding back-and-forth, before heading down the luge track – to the 1980s Human League hit, “Don’t You Want Me, Baby?”
CIDI Founder and CEO Michael Bach says, “The discrimination in Russia is unacceptable. As an organization, we want to show support for athletes competing at the Olympics.” Created by Rethink, a Toronto-based creative agency, the video ends with the assertion, “The games have always been a little gay. Let’s fight to keep them that way.
