Julian Saporiti, AKA No No Boy, took a few minutes to chat with PRP on Sounds of PDX this past Friday and in case you missed it, here’s your chance to take a listen.

No No Boy is an immersive multimedia work blending original folk songs, storytelling, and projected archival images all in service of illuminating hidden American histories; a music and multimedia project that combines vivid narrative storytelling with Asian-American history. Taking inspiration from his own family’s history, and in the pursuit of his higher education, Julian adapted those stories and visuals into treats for the ears, eyes…and mind.

Along with label mate Jake Blount (they are both on Smithsonian Folkways), PDX’s No No Boy hits the Show Bar stage on Wednesday November 9th (grab a ticket here).

Listen to our Drop-In Session below – you’ll here tunes from “1975” – and let No No Boy take you on a journey through the Asian American experience in the US.

This Drop-in Session was made possible in part by grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust and The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation.
