Malachi Graham, one half of local synch-pop duo Small Million, dropped by Sounds of PDX with new music in tow and still on a bit of a high from her successful album release celebration at Mississippi Studios.

“Caretaker” – a 9 song collection of new solo music – is a heartfelt and soul bearing compilation of tunes written and co-produced by Malachi.  Through the lens of exploring “codependency, unraveling loves, chronic pain, grudges, flings, and the boundaries of the self”, Malachi’s music creates an emotional visual not only about the taking of care but the care of giving.

During our drop-in session, we learned about Malachi’s creative process and heard new songs “Together for the Kids” & “Wonderful Life” – both simply beautiful. We also chatted about her recent illness – she’s doing great now folks – and how the outpouring of support & love was exactly the caretaking that she needed.

Take a listen to our interview below – we spent some time talking about Portland Music Month too so check that out  – and then grab your copy of “Caretaker”!
