On this episode of Sounds of PDX, we welcomed Kathryn Claire into the studio for a conversation that moves well beyond a single song.
We talked about her new single Blue Quarantine — a piece that began as a pandemic-era demo and evolved into something much more layered, incorporating spoken word, memory, and a multi-media approach to storytelling. At the heart of the work is a rediscovered voice memo from March 2020, creating a powerful dialogue between past and present versions of herself.
The conversation also explores the creative space Kathryn has built here in Portland through Harmonic Heart Music, where she teaches, creates, and hosts intimate listening room performances. It’s a space that reflects her broader artistic vision — one rooted in connection, reflection, and community.
Kathryn is currently presenting this work as part of the Fertile Ground Festival — and in exciting (and well-deserved) news, all performances have officially sold out.
