If you liked the tabloid-sized Opinion Section in the Sunday Oregonian, you’re going to love the Wednesday paper! Tomorrow is the day The O switches from traditional broadsheet to the slimmer, more colorful tabloid size – following an industry trend.
The only remaining daily in Portland, and the oldest continuously published newspaper on the West Coast, The Oregonian announced in January that it was downsizing. This came on the heels of cuts in the number of home delivery days last year.
The continuing transition to what Oregonian publisher and president N. Christian Anderson III called a “digital-first” approach reflects the loss of advertising revenue to newspapers in recent years, and a shift to online readership.
