A new report issued by the University of Oregon suggests that it lags its peers in key areas, including the student-faculty ratio, graduation rates and faculty research activity.

The Register Guard reports that the university was measuring itself against 34 other top-ranked public universities.

The U-of-O is below average on at least 14 of the 22 indicators.

It scored last in some categories, including total expenditures per full-time student.

University of Oregon President Michael Gottfredson says Oregon should spend more money on its universities to help reverse these trends.
