Says PRP Music Director Inessa Anderson:

“When Lorde, the first female with a million-selling debut album since Adele, finally released her second album ‘Melodrama’ last summer, I looked to her lyrics first. They are steeped in simplicity and depth, all at the same time. And no wonder. When she was finishing up the album in New York last year , she thrived on going unnoticed. In part because she enjoys paying very close attention to the conversations of strangers. And so, phrases she heard would roll around in her head for hours, and much of that became infused into her latest album. One of my favorite quotes about Lorde comes from David Bowie, who said of her music that it ‘felt like listening to tomorrow.’ Now with the newest collection, Lorde has put to rest the gnawing dilemma of ‘what the day after tomorrow’ sounds like. And like her lyrics, her pop-craft contains the same unexpected and off-kilter sound schemes. A gift to us all.”
