Portlandia’s Fred Armisen has returned to his musical roots. He’s joining Seth Meyers on NBC’s Late Night Show as bandleader. Meyers is replacing Jimmy Fallon, who moves to the Tonight Show. NBC says Armisen will continue to “curate and lead” the show’s music even when he’s up here shooting Portlandia. He was the band Trenchmouth’s drummer before he became an actor but he also plays guitar; the official NBC portrait of the new Late Night band shows him cradling one. Armisen starts as bandleader on February 24th.
