Michael Deresh, Jaime Hazerian and Tyler Rachal – 3/4’s of local indie band Risley – dropped by Sounds of PDX with new music and a birthday to celebrate!

“Umbra Penumbra”, their upcoming release – singles “Breadcrumbs”, “Kangaroo” and “Walls” (featuring Dave Abbruzzese of Pearl Jam on drums) have already hit airwaves – is slated for January 24th. Risley plans on marking the occasion with an album release gig at Mississippi Studios on January 23rd along side Mini Blinds and The Fourth Wall.

The band sifted through “…around 30 songs” to find the 13 that worked for their latest album.  Having played many of them live already, Risley’s ready to send “Umbra Penumbra” out into the world and will mark the occasion with cake (…ok the cake is really for Jaime’s birthday but who doesn’t love cake?)

If you aren’t able to catch their show at Mississippi Studios on January 23rd, consider heading over to June Bee’s Jamboree on February 1st at Edgefield’s Blackberry Hall. This shindig benefits the Oman Family, as their 8 year-old-daughter, June Bee, has been fighting stage 4 cancer since 2021.

Learn more about Risley, their new tunes and the promise of cake in our interview below and of course pick up your copy of “Umbra Penumbra” via Bandcamp OR live & in-person at Mississippi Studios.

(next time you see Michael, ask him about his pal in the picture above)
