Feeding families one meal at a time…no cost, no questions asked.

Milk Crate Kitchen works to help families and individuals overcome barriers to food security by cooking and delivering cost-free meals – to date they have supplied 25000+ individual meals in and around the Portland area.  The communities MCK serves include (but is not limited to) low-income, students, single parents, elderly, disabled, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals/families in need.

At the heart of Milk Crate Kitchen is “…a passion about reducing hunger and fighting for food security.”   Started in April 2020 by Michael Casper (Founder, Board President & Culinary Co-Director) and fueled by the wise words of his grandmother – “If you don’t know what to do, do what you know” – Chef Casper used his own money and cooking skills to start this project in an effort to alleviate, if just for one meal, the anxiety and pressure a world wide pandemic had forced upon those with little to no government assistance.

Fast forward to April 2021, and add in the fundraising expertise of Sherielyn Gardner (Board VP & Operations/Development Co-Director), MCK became a registered nonprofit with resources sustained by community partners, individual donations and a collection of passionate volunteers including Khristi Levack (Board Secretary & Events/Partnership Manager).

In speaking with Chef Casper, Sherielyn and Khristi for our latest Community Voices segment, there is an overwhelming amount of compassion and drive behind MCK. But don’t take our word for it, take theirs. Listen to our interview ⬇️⬇️⬇️ below and learn more about how you can support MCK’s mission in reducing hunger and providing food security for OUR community.
