Lux the aggressive cat has been taken into a shelter.  After a turbulent few days in which the Himalayan terrorized his owners, their baby and the family dog in their apartment, Stuart Tomlinson reports for The Oregonian that Lux is now housed at Multnomah County Animal Services.

Shelter Director Mike Oswald says, “They are wrestling with the decision whether to keep the cat.” The Lux saga began March 9 when eight-month-old Jesse pulled his tail, and Lux responded with a swipe across Jesse’s face that drew blood. Shocked when he saw the cat scratch, Jesse’s father kicked the cat away, prompting Lux to go wild.

Unable to control the cat, the couple took shelter in a bedroom, with Jesse and their Pomeranian, Smokey – and called for help: Unable to reach Animal Services, they called 911, a call heard ‘round the Internet when the story went viral.

The family is expected to make a decision Tuesday morning about whether to keep Lux, or give custody to Multnomah County.
