The Oregon Department of Transportation will begin a two-week series of public meetings Tuesday on the future of passenger rail in the Willamette Valley.
The Statesman Journal reports that ODOT will present four proposals for rail service from Portland to Eugene.
One route would take passengers through Corvallis. Another would follow the existing Amtrak Cascades route. A third would follow Interstate 5. The last proposal would travel through Albany and Harrisburg.
Public meetings will be held in Salem, Eugene, Albany, Oregon City and Portland.
State officials will select a new route in 2015.
