Week five of the new Portland Radio Project (PRP) –  Portland Center Stage (PCS) concert series “Local Spins” features a troubadour for our modern times, Eric John Kaiser.

Eric shares the zeitgeist of Pink Martini’s global grooves but brings a decidedly different style with his smooth marriage of French and English vocals mashed up against American rhythms. In his eclectic world, southern-flavored steel guitar and brushed drums swing into husky musings about “America interpreted through a French lens.”

Though Eric gathered a vast array of regional musical influences while gigging across the U.S., his heart still belongs to Paris. In “Le Pari,” dreamy accordion weaves across the soundscape before giving way to gritty guitar while “Le Puzzle” dips into hip hop with a decidedly Francois bounce.

See Eric John Kaiser perform October 13, in the sixth edition of Local Spins. Concerts are held every Tuesday evening at 6:30 through mid-November in the elegant lobby bar of the historic Armory in the Pearl District.

Concert admission is free and open to the public. (No show ticket is required.) However, if you plan to attend a Local Spins concert, and would like to stay and see that night’s PCS play, enter the promo code: LOCALSPIN at pcs.org to get $10 off show tickets.

Next week, October 20: Oregon’s premier live EDM act Acoustic Minds.
