The Portland-based musicians are like many other creatives, with hands in many other projects aside from their story-based group. Now it’s time to collect a deserved accolade courtesy of The Oregon Music Hall of Fame, Class of 2013!

Not surprising that Richmond Fontaine’s music slides easily between gothic storytelling, doom-folk sounds, and suddenly into a sunny clearing. Well, at least slightly more optimistic if not completely cloudless. The stories come from the band’s founder, writer and singer Willy Vlautin, and the sounds are completed by an exceptional gathering of knowing musicians and regular contributors.

I have been following Willy’s career on both sides, as novelist and as the singer /songwriter of the group. A pleasure to catch up recently.
