This week, Rock Block was proud host to three amazing local bands! Goldfoot stopped by first to give us a taste of their music, talk about an upcoming music festival they have joined, and to share what currently inspires them in the way of music from yesterday and today. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the hour with them, getting to understand their sense of humor, and sharing some of our behind the scenes moments on Periscope.

Goldfoot is determined to reignite respect for the music from their youth that has inspired them in their creative process and performance style. Paying homage to the ultimate importance of bass and the beat, The band draws on old school funk, soul, disco, and rock to create a sound of their own. Our studio was rocking the airwaves with their musical influences. They love anything that gets people off their feet and on the dance floor!

Right away, we learned that they have a very special secret for getting Portland audiences up and off their feet – and it’s simpler than it seems… make good danceable music! Goldfoot not only creates music that inspires dancing, they also perform – going “all in” with costumes, fantastic beats, and incredible enthusiasm!

Their latest album, “On the Floor” was an instant hit with us – we were about of our seats dancing, which was the whole point of the album. We were fascinated to find out that the band actually wears gold shoes went on stage. They dress for the events, and always make sure their audience has a fantastic time. Goldfoot is participating in the Mogo music festival November 21 and 22nd. They also have a show tonight – and it will be a sight to behold, as well as a delight to the ears. Take the challenge – can you resist dancing to Goldfoot?
