The Portland Playlist welcomed back Sarah Vitort and Scott Gilmore from the popular duo, Fox and Bones. A lot has happened for these two since we saw them last. They finished their self-titled EP, scheduled its release party (8/18 at The White Eagle), had a taping in the woods for PDX Spotlight, scheduled a European tour (Nov/Dec 2016), received a new sponsor in Spirit Hoods, and much more.

The first hour was spent talking about the albums that have influenced Sarah and Scott from their childhood to their current obsessions. There were many synchronistic moments when talking about the music they chose for their influences list. If you’re a believer that there’s a greater plan and that people enter our lives for a reason, it seems these two were destined to make music together.

Moving into the second hour, we played the new EP in its entirety. It is one rich in depth, beautiful harmonies, simplicity, and romanticism that was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Justin Phelps at The Hallowed Halls and Cloud City Sound. It is an album that is easy to listen to on repeat and with those harmonies, one you instantly want to sing along to. They will debut the new EP, and new merch, at The White Eagle on August 18th. Coming up from Mississippi, the show will also feature the husband and wife duo, Oh Jeremiah.

You can’t have a Portland Playlist show without a song or two performed live, and Fox and Bones is not one to disappoint. We heard an Everclear cover they recently started working on and one of Just People‘s.

Sarah and Scott bring to their duo project a solid following from their solo work with top notch bands. While they keep the atmosphere fun and filled with laughter, as well as sharing a love for costumes, they take their craft seriously, and work diligently to provide a product they can be proud of.

We’d say this first Fox and Bones effort is one they can definitely be proud of and we look forward to more great music from these two!

Sarah has a show on September 1st with Jacob Westfall and Haley Johnsen at Doug Fir Lounge. She is also releasing a new EP, “Villain,” with her band, Sarah Wild, at Dante’s on October 1st. Scott’s band, Just People, will also perform. This show will be one costume-filled fest so celebrate Halloween early, don a costume, and go to this show.

Fox and Bones, Sarah Wild, Just People, and Worth will all play a special overnight show at the popular, The Birk, on September 17th.
