“The First Cut is the Deepest” has been widely covered by many artists, and now we’re adding our spin: the second is the sweetest. We’re thrilled to celebrate the numero dos birthday of Portland Radio Project! This renegade, “OMG we really did this!” media endeavor’s been fueled by too many talents and volunteers to count. Yet we’ll try! Please see the Team page and Friends of PRP for a partial list of our posse and supporters.

Huge thanks to the pirate band of radio professionals and volunteers who believe in local broadcasting, the crazy-good talent of PDX musical artists and the amazing energy that’s created by combining the two! You hold the vision of what renegade local radio really can be.

And thanks to our listeners who stream PRP at work, chat on our Talk Board, tweet out our shows and give us love that we wholeheartedly give back! You’re the community for which we strive to be the best.

Being the best means giving more. In this last year we’ve launched the Local Spins concert series with Portland Center Stage; and Biz503, Portland’s business talk show, with Albina Community Bank. These two new projects, along with everything we do, are designed to entertain, inspire and inform.

PRP.fm is smart, friendly, local radio run by passionate Portland radio professionals and incredible volunteers who care about music and community – local radio at its best.

Broadcasting daily until 3:00 p.m. at 99.1 FM, and streaming 24/7, we deliver a unique combination of music and public service: rock, folk, blues and jazz. Our core programming includes local and emerging artists, reminiscent of the best years of quality Portland radio. No commercials.

It’s a new model for radio: a true, independent and sustainable radio station/stream that serves as a cultural hub, reflecting and reacting to listeners.

Thanks for reading about PRP.fm on our second birthday!

Here’s a fun video snapshot of our first two years, created by one of our original team members, Robert Parish.
