Port Velvet is the new project from members of Menomena and Radiation City. Brent Knopf (also of Ramona Falls / El Vy) and Patti King (also a touring member of The Shins) made a synth-pop post-punk pilgrimage and the result is Port Velvet. From the pair’s magical blend of chaos and order, Port Velvet’s songs emerge with rich melodies, dance grooves, dynamic arrangements, and dark subjects.
We spun a couple tunes from their self-released debut album “Midnight is Calling” – “Hold Still” along with “Eyes on Us” – and learned how this collab came to life.
