Joshua Josué joined us for our latest Sounds of PDX and brought a beautiful piece of music history with him.

Broadcast to the Surf Ballroom, his newly released album on Electric Chololand Records, is a bold and deeply respectful project built around the unfinished demos and fragments left behind by Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens after their final performance at the surf ballroom in Clearlake Iowa on February 2, 1959 just hours before the day the music died.

Joshua dove deep into the history of each artist, shared anecdotes about their music and legacies.  Take a listen to our interview and hear a couple tracks from the album – we spun Now That You’ve Gone and What To Do. If you are a fan of Buddy and Ritchie, this is a must-have for your collection; Joshua did a wonderful job letting the music live again.
