It’s always a pleasure welcoming a local artist into the PRP studio, we love supporting our local music community. For our most recent Sounds of PDX, not only did we have a spectacular local musician drop by but we got to hear first hand how incredible our PDX youth music community is shaping up to be.
Pop and R&B singer/songwriter Gus Jeffers dropped by the PRP studio for his first ever radio interview. Gus is 13, attends 8th grade and has already released a slew of top notch original pop tunes along with some truly noteworthy covers including Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas”.
We spent some time getting to know Gus – his influences include Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber – and how he got started on his budding music career. A multi-instrumentalist from an early age, he’s lucky to have an incredible team of mentors and supporters helping guide this very driven young man into what we predict will be a long and fruitful career in the music industry.
Gus is starting out 2024 with a bang, releasing new music each month or so culminating in a full album release around May.
Take a listen to our interview below – we heard Gus’ original tune “True Love” and his cover of “This Christmas” – and make sure to follow him on Instagram for all the latest on upcoming shows and his new music.
