We got to punk rock out for our latest Sounds of PDX on PRP – and although the festival has come and gone, it’s never too late to learn more about the work that Alberta Abbey is doing to spotlight underrepresented artists, the vibrancy of the #pnw punk rock scene and the work these artists do to connect with community.
The inaugural Not Your Basic Northwest Punk Fest passed the mic 🎤 to bands with BIPOC, Queer, or Femme leads.
With performances from The Black Tones, Black Ends, Splinterhead, and Live Alone, Not Your Basic Northwest Punk Fest hit the stage Saturday August 16th at Alberta Abbey… breaking feedback loops one rockin’ festival at a time!
And we were fortunate to have Eva Walker of The Black Tones join us for Sounds of PDX 🤘🏽prior the festival.
Take a listen to our drop-in session (below) and learn more about NYBNWPF, our sister city Seattle’s rock scene and why “music is as much entertainment and expression as it is a chance at activism” is the mantra that powers The Black Tones.
This Drop-in Session was made possible in part by grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust, RACC and The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation.
