LEAP is an arm of MusicPortland, the grassroots trade association and advocacy group working to make Portland a better place to work in music. The acronym stands for Leadership, Equity and Advocacy Project and the mission stands for inclusion and diverse experiences & opportunities for the BIPOC music community. In this episode of Culture Hub PDX, we spoke with LEAP leadership to get a better understanding of the intentions and visions for the project.

GUESTS:

David OG One Jackson – LEAP Co-Director – OG is a DJ, producer, and author, as well as CEO of One God Productions Inc. and founder of the Hip Hop Collective PDX. He also brings the jams to the Trailblazers games!

Jamie Dunphy – Music Portland Policy Council member – Jamie was Senior Policy Advisor for Commissioner Nick Fish and is currently the Oregon Government Relations Director for the American Cancer Society. But it sounds like his heart is still on the stage…once a musician ALWAYS a musician!

Sarah Clarke – LEAP Co-Director – Sarah is the front woman for local neo-funk phenom Dirty Revival and founder & president of Musicians in Solidarity.   She manages all this AND she’s mom to the “soon to be 8th member of the band (Dirty Revival)” Donovan.

We actually started this LEAP rooted conversation during a recent Drop-in Session which featured Sarah, her musical endeavors & MIS – give it a listen, she’s amazing!
