From milestones like OMSI to the Tilikum Crossing, the recent transformation of Portland’s Central Eastside is dramatic. The previously-industrial area now features tall residential buildings near the Burnside Bridge and new office buildings near the Hawthorne Bridge.
After actively preserving the area as an “industrial sanctuary,” recent plans have put forward a new definition of what “industrial” means in the 21st century.
This week, we continue our occasional series on fast-changing areas of the Portland region with an update on Central Eastside’s development. We will speak with two guests who are very familiar with the area’s past, present, and possible future.
This week’s Biz503 host is Rebecca Webb, Co-Founder of Portland Radio Project.
This week’s guests:
- Troy Doss, Senior Planner for the City of Portland
- Peter Stark, Architect and founder of Peter Stark Design Architecture and Planning
