Portland has long been recognized as one of the best bicycling communities in the world. Recent statistics indicate more than six percent of Portland residents bike commute to work, making our beautiful metropolis the highest-ranking major city in that category.
But lately, we’ve also been receiving a lot of media attention for our massive car-induced rush hour traffic jam-ups. Last May, the TomTom Travel Index Labeled Portland the 10th most congested city in the country.
To bike or drive? That’s just one of the questions thoughtfully explored in the new documentary film, BIKES VS. CARS, which had its Portland premier on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Hollywood Theater.
Prior to the film’s screening, Chris Paine (a California Filmmaker who created the award-winning WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR) and Dawn Smallman of The Portland EcoFilm Festival joined Robert Parish on prp.fm/99.1 fm to talk about the film and play some of their favorite bikes vs cars songs.
