As we reported on our live stream this morning, the 19th Annual Air Guitar World Championships are underway in Oulo, Finland.

Organizers call the event, which runs from August 27-30, “a surprisingly entertaining show that offers dazzling performances with and without instruments.”

They’re not kidding!

The reigning World Air Guitar Champion is from the United States.
Take a look at Eric “Mean Melin” Melin’s epic performance from last year:

Of course, there’s a PDX Air Guitar Competition:

The Portland Air Guitar qualifier is usually held in June. So there’s plenty of time to prepare your arms, legs and face for the competition.

As a public service, we present “Mean Melin’s” 11 Air Guitar Commandments.
