Based on the 1985 Fox Century movie with the same name, this musical is a hilarious look at the very real issues women faced in the workplace in the 1970’s and 80’s. Tap your toes to music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. Follow Violet, Judy, and Doralee as they work together to put their misogynistic boss, Mr. Hart, in his place. A fun night out for a date or with friends, this show is not to be missed. You’ll walk out with a smile on your face as our sassy heroines win the day.

Stumptown Stages partnered with Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre to bring this production to the Portland stage. Award-winning director Roger Welch will be joining us at the helm of this fabulous production. You may remember Roger’s comical and heartfelt turn as Norbert from The Great American Trailer Park Musical with Stumptown Stages last spring. Roger served as Artistic Director for Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre for over 20 years, directing such shows as Spamalot, A Little Night Music, Once on this Island, Dames at Sea, All Shook Up, Joseph…, Annie, Chicago, Blame it on the Movies, My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Sound of Music, Showboat, HMS Pinafore, and the award winning productions of Mame, Crazy for You, Camelot, Oklahoma, and Beauty and the Beast to name just a few. We are honored to kick off our season by bringing Roger Welches’ many talents to Stumptown Stages.
