The Oregon chub may become the first fish to be taken off the Endangered Species List. The chub is a kind of silvery minnow, and it’s found only in the backwaters of the Willamette Valley. The Eugene Register-Guard reports landowners were instrumental, volunteering to house recovering fish populations. The Oregon chub became endangered after dams dried up much of their boggy habitat. The public has 60 days to comment on the delisting, starting Thursday.
