Medical examiners are conducting tests to determine the exact cause of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death. Hoffman’s friends found him in his New York apartment Sunday when he didn’t show up for a visit with his partner and their children. Packets of heroin and a syringe suggest he died of an overdose.
The New York Times reports actors, directors and friends mourned him in New York gatherings and on twitter as one of the outstanding performers of his generation. He was nominated four times for Oscars and won once, and was nominated three times for the Tony Award. Philip Seymour Hoffman was only 46 years old.
