Teenagers with parents in the military have a higher risk of suicide when their relatives are deployed multiple times, according to a new study.
University of Southern California researchers found a link between multiple deployments of parents or siblings and mental health problems, including thoughts of suicide. The study focused on 7th, 9th, and 11th graders – and adds to a growing body of research showing the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have taken a hefty toll on children of military families.
