Mordecai on Sounds of PDX

Before heading out on their 2017 European tour, Mordecai‘s Kate Kilbourne dropped by the show to talk to me about the band’s creative process, influences, and their recently released “It’s Never Enough” LP. Some of the influences on the playlist included Haitus Kaiyote, James Blake, and Paramore. Most of the first hour was a peek into Kate’s past and how she came to work with Andrew Endres, the other creative force in the band. Our listeners enjoyed almost the entirety of the “It’s Never Enough” LP which is packed with a dynamic range of memorable tracks. I hope you enjoy my interview and playlist with Mordecai.

I host "Sounds of PDX" every Tuesday from 7-9pm.

At my core, I am a musician, songwriter, producer, studio owner/engineer, and, most importantly, a lover of all things music. It is my goal to help connect listeners to local artists. I believe we should all be searching for the next thing that inspires us.

I am originally from Arizona, where over many years, I played in several different independent bands in the Phoenix and Tucson areas. I put in many, many hours of grassroots-style promotion in order to get my bands heard. I am excited to be a part of Portland Radio Project where I can provide an avenue to local Portland musicians to share their art.
