The wedding music for Michael Wolber and April Hartley included sirens from fire trucks.
The ceremony being held at Rock Springs Ranch, near Bend Saturday was going as planned until the couple, their family, friends and the minister were told to evacuate.
The Two Bulls wildfire was getting close.
But at the last second firefighters said the ceremony could go ahead – vows could be exchanged – if it happened quickly.
Wedding minister Liz Leavitt speed-read the vows, the couple kissed, the assembled party cheered and then evacuated the area.
But as the wedding party headed to an impromptu reception in Bend’s Drake Park photographer Josh Newton began clicking off startling photographs with the newlyweds shilouetted by the raging wildfire.
Newton posted the photos on his Facebook page. They have been seen by tens of thousands of people worldwide and been featured on national television.
For their part, Michael and April are honeymooning in Mexico creating their own smoke and fire.
