At long last, Swingin’ Sounds with Dr. Brown, PRP’s Sunday morning vintage-style jazz and swing show, will be available as a podcast! The very first podcast is attached below.
Swingin’ Sounds features a wide range of vintage artists – from Fats Waller, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Jordan to Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians, and everything in between. The show also spotlights many of the local artists that make up the current Portland swing scene. Fans of The Midnight Serenaders, The Stolen Sweets, The Jenny Finn Orchestra, and The Libertine Belles will find their music here, as well as many other local bands. All the music on the show is carefully chosen to put a smile on your face and get your feet moving!
You can also listen to the show live on PRP, Sunday mornings from 10 AM to noon on 99.1 FM in Portland, or streaming worldwide at www.prp.fm.

Always the last one to get on board…I just learned of this station via the scan on my car radio and WOW, am I glad I did! It was Dr. Brown that caught and held my attention. This show is my idea of the perfect Sunday morning starter-upper. My go-to station is KMHD but I’m not too stuck in my ways to try something new… when I finally get wind of it, that is. I’m also enjoying the diversity of the other shows here. Reminds me of a college radio station I used to listen to back when I was running with All The Young Dudes. Good to meet you.
