MANY ROADS TO HERE
First Sunday of each month at 4 pm
Many Roads to Here
First Sundays, 4 pm, at 99.1 FM locally – streaming globally.
Welcome to a story about all of us: The immigrant story is the American story.
Our newest podcast, Many Roads to Here, is a partnership between Portland Radio Project (PRP) and The Immigrant Story (TIS), documenting the diverse journeys of American immigrants who have traveled countless miles from myriad countries in pursuit of a life in America. “The stories of immigrants comprise our nation’s collective history and its rich, multicultural present,” says TIS founder Sankar Raman. “These stories both form and strengthen the very fabric of the country.”
With its team of volunteer journalists, photographers, graphic designers, web developers and marketing specialists, TIS has spent over three years reporting and disseminating stories of immigrants and refugees. In a unique podcast/broadcast partnership with PRP, “Many Roads to Here” will bring their journeys to life through personal accounts told in their own words.
“Especially today, with the way immigrants are often disparaged, we are helping tell a different story – about the extraordinary accomplishments and nuanced challenges of our immigrant friends and neighbors,’’ said PRP co-founder Rebecca Webb. “We see the podcast as part of the movement toward a more just and equitable media landscape in Portland and beyond.”
October 25, 2020, you can hear the premiere episode at 99.1 FM in the heart of Portland, or stream from anywhere worldwide online at 4:00 pm Pacific Time. Starting November 1, the podcast will air at the same time on the first Sunday of each month.
Shortly after each broadcast, podcasts will be available on this page, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher and other popular podcast platforms.
