MusicfestNW is thrilled to announce the lineup for MusicfestNW 2013, now in its 13th year of showcasing the finest in national and regional music in one of the most compelling urban areas in the country.

MusicfestNW is once again returning to historic Pioneer Courthouse Square—Portland’s civic living room—for four picturesque outdoor performances headlined by sun soaked Indie rockers of Young The Giant (Sep 5), experimental psychedelic songsmiths Animal Collective (Sep 6), effervescent Indie folk rockers The Head and the Heart (Sep 7) and the skilled singer-songwriter Neko Case (Sep 8).

Beyond the Square, MusicfestNW will once again take over the city for six days, with over 150 bands playing at 16 clubs throughout Portland. MusicfestNW kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 3, with up-and-coming hip-hop starJoey Bada$$ headlining the Roseland Theater, leading into performances from Justin Townes Earle,Youth Lagoon, Dan Deacon, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, and Pickwick over the week-long event. Be sure to check out showcases from Nike featuring Diplo and Flume; Red Bull Sound Select featuring Ra Ra Riot, Washed Out, and The Thermals; and a special Dr. Martens performance from LA’s legendaryMariachi El Bronx. This year, the best venues the city has to offer will host the likes of Titus Andronicus, !!!, Bob Mould, Baroness, Saves The Day, P.O.S., Cody ChesnuTT, Austra, Surfer Blood, The Dodos and Ty Segall. The festival also features heavy-hitting sets from hometown heroes The Helio Sequence, Typhoon, Chromatics, Glass Candy, Horse Feathers, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

In its second year, TechFestNW will extend MusicfestNW beyond music to embrace the technology and startup community by featuring conversations with leading thinkers, both local and from outside Portland. The event, held September 6-8, will focus on individuals who exemplify an attention to detail, creativity, and the craft of building compelling experiences. Among the confirmed speakers are: Scott Kveton, CEO of Urban Airship; Michelle Rowley, founder of CodeScouts; Ward Cunningham, inventor of the wiki; Joe Stump, former lead architect at Digg; Jessica Zollman, community manager at Instagram; James Keller, director of mobile UX at WalmartLabs and Alex Payne, former engineer at Twitter and CTO at Simple.
