Lovey James Sings Live@PRP

Portland’s own American Idol Top 20 Finalist, Lovey James, joined us in the Portland Radio Project studios for a Drop-In Session with Michele Van Kleef on Monday Music Muse. After her whirlwind experience with Fox’s American Idol and being swooped onto big stages with bigger crowds, Lovey remains a level-headed, upbeat 18 year-old with a fantastic, positive attitude.

She has recently released her debut self-titled album, Lovey James, and shared a few tunes with us live in the studio. She started out with “Home”, a song she wrote about missing home when she was away for about a year doing American Idol.  Next we heard one of her studio recordings, “Can’t Break a Broken Heart”, co-written written by Portland/Nashville country duo, Cloverdayle and producer, Steve Sundholm and his wife, Michelle. And finally, another live one, “Unbelievable”, accompanying her on guitar and background vocals was Portland’s Nate Botsford.

Lovey started out performing as a competitive dancer at age eight. She started singing a few years later and was noticed by one of her music theater instructors who told her she could really sing. She began taking voice lessons, started competing in the vocal category at the dance competitions and did very well. Listen in to the rest of her journey so far! Her new album is available on iTunes.
