Not all children are lucky enough to have a carefree childhood. Some are mistreated by their families. Some suffer abuse by the people meant to protect them. Some are left alone, receiving little or no care and compassion essential to developing into a healthy and happy person. Some don’t have a childhood at all. The Center aims to put an end to this mistreatment.

Children’s Center is a non-profit medical assessment center in Portland that supports children that are possible victims of abuse and neglect. Through partnerships with other community organizations, the Center works to begin the healing process for victims and their families and educate the public in the hopes of ending abuse and neglect.

The Center provides medical evaluations, interviews and medical record assessments for children suspected of suffering physical, sexual, mental or emotional abuse and being exposed to drug manufacturing, distribution or use. It also provides support and outreach groups for families affected by abuse.
