Brian Copeland is not the first or last to juggle passions. Music has been there since kid days. Then there’s your daily job which sounds like a fulfilling thing for Brian. And then? A delayed decision to have Le Bebe.
Welcome to the Jugglefest
Last time I spoke with Brian (last year) he said “Hold on. I am working on a new batch of songs. We are having a baby. I’ll get back to you!”. OK!
Now, nearly a year later, he got back to me. Little kiddo is 5 months old. The EP, “The B Sides” got released. And it is time to have some fun at Jimmy Mak’s on Friday, September 13th (That’s auspicous) with some of Brian’s favorite musicians on board.
The Show
Nearly a year has passed since Brian Copeland released his latest CD “ The B Sides” to a standing room only crowd at Jimmy Mak’s in Portland. That night, also featuring Portland’s Jake OkenBerg, was a huge success for both bands. Since that night in 2012, Copeland has enjoyed many successes, including rave reviews for his music and a #1 ranking on Reverbnation. Copeland and Oken-Berg look to repeat that stellar 2012 night when they bring their music back to the Jimmy Mak’s stage Friday September 13.
Inbetween
I invited Brian and his guitarist, Jeff Koch, to drop by Mountain Air Studios for a bit of conversation and some playing. We are in the middle of launching our streaming thang, Portland Radio Project, from MAS, not without its tech-issues. Suddenly Adobe!! wasn’t cooperating. So I hit up my default: iPhone, for both interview and video. (Tech! Love/hate relationship.)
Get a look at a very telling song of Brian’s “Closer to OK” and a sweet convo about his other new baby and how the name came to be! It’s a great story.
By the Way
That book Brian mentions is called BE PREPARED (Ominous!) Check it out.
