The wonderful, warm and talented founders of the Portland-based band Starover Blue stopped in to play us some tunes and talk about their upcoming show during a Drop-In Session at the studio this week. Partnered duo Kendall Sallay-Milotz (vocals and guitar) and Dirk Sallay-Milotz (Nord/Juno synthesizer) met in the music department at San Jose State University and are living their true dream of making music together with friends and traveling all over to share it.
They first played Parlor Trick and talked some of their inspiration for the song, a commentary on the industry of funerals and the mausoleum in Sellwood near Oaks Bottom Park. Anemone rounded out their two-song, stripped down set, and the music sounded so damn good.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in, and ✨Congratulations✨ to the lucky winner of 2 tickets to their show at Holocene! Kendall and band mate James will be guesting with the band Young Elk, the show opener, then following up as the headliner band.
Check out the Drop-In Session in the audio below (posting shortly!), as well as the show details and Starover Blue’s online info beneath that.
