Something wonderful is happening at the Rose City Food Park on Saturday, March 19, 2016. A very special event will be taking place from Noon till 6 PM. This will be the pod’s Spring Sampling event. Carts at the pod will be offering their wares as $1, $2, and $3 dollar samples.
You will be able to get samples from Bangkok Xpress (Thai food), Bridgetown Bagel Co. (bagels), El Guerro (Mexican food), GF Chef (gluten-free fare), Magpie Bakery (baked goods and pies), La Arepa (Venezuelan food), Smak Dab’s (stuffed burgers), and Pig ’N A Pen (breaded pork loin sandwiches). This is by no means a complete list either.
The Spring Sampling at Rose City Food Park will be family and dog friendly. The pod has off-street parking and easy access to public transportation. Live music with local musicians and DJ’s will be playing during the event.
Two other carts from Rose City Food Park that will be part of the event are Thirsty Barn and Bacon PDX. Thirsty Barn serves beer and wine. Which means you can sample some exotic food and a craft beer together.
Bacon PDX is Portland’s only bacon-centric food cart. That means every item on the menu at Bacon PDX is either bacon or contains bacon. You can read more about Bacon PDX and the food they offer from Dave’s previous visit to Tasty Tuesday.
Dave Elkin, the creator and owner of Bacon PDX, will be featuring one very special sandwich at the event, The Dazzler. A spicy and sweet, crispy and creamy delight. The sandwich is made with habanero-and-sugar-cured bacon, both cream cheese and pepper jack cheese, roasted habanero peppers, five pepper jelly, sweet onion, a slice of jicama, Romain lettuce, and just a few drops of Sriracha.
The Rose City Food Park is located at 5235 NE Sandy Blvd. The event is free, begins at Noon and runs till 6 PM. The event is family friendly and dogs are allowed. Live music will be available throughout the event. Tri-met can drop you off right in front of the pod.
Listen now as Steven Shomler and Ken Wilson talk with Dave Elkin of the Bacon PDX food cart about the March 19th event at Rose City Food Park.
