What do you do when technical difficulties strike? At The Portland Playlist, you make a plan in the elevator to borrow your co-host’s phone because yours and Facebook Live aren’t speaking the same language, you pay The Get Ahead‘s, Nathan Earle and Juliet Howard, to be your guinea pigs (just kidding), and then you record your show on Facebook Live.

This is pretty much what happened last week when the technology gremlins decided to pay a visit and take away our live streaming capabilities for most of the show. What resulted was an hour with our guests that was lighthearted, full of laughter, and a ton of fun! We will be bringing them back, (our guests, not the gremlins), for the full two hour show on October 19, 7-9 p.m., so mark that date on your calendar.

Who is The Get Ahead you might be wondering? They are a five piece band that “puts a modern edge on a classic sound. Drawing from the roots of Soul, R&B and Rock, The Get Ahead will send you to the dance floor.” Having seen them several times, you will not want to sit down during their high energy, loaded with fun show. This is a band that gives it their all and then some.

We spent the hour talking to Nathan and Juliet about their music backgrounds, new additions to the band, their new rehearsal space, “The Wild,” Nathan’s solo project, Nathan Earle, and the new EP in the works with producer, Son Little. They performed a fantastic song off the EP, “Stella,” and a couple from Nathan’s solo project. While it was enjoyable listening to them in this stripped down acoustic way, to get the full effect of what this band is about, we highly recommend seeing them on a larger stage backed by the full band.
