Leigh Marble will premiere the music video for his song “Pony” on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at Kelly’s Olympian, Portland, Ore.
“Pony” first appeared on Leigh’s last record, “Where The Knives Meet Between The Rows,” and was hailed as a “cocky and rollicking” (Racket Magazine) standout track amidst the album’s generally somber mood.
Now, the tale told in “Pony” of a “snidely vicious drunken pickup scenario” (New York Music Daily) is being brought to the big screen. Starring Cora Benesh (City Baby) as the seductive yet terrifying pony girl, the video takes us on a wild ride of unexpected twists and turns.
Following a screening of the video, a panel discussion with the cast and crew will examine the making of the video and answer questions from the audience about ponies. Live music sets from Leigh and special guests will close out the night.
A limited edition EP, featuring “Pony” along with several new tracks, will be available for the first time at the show.
iTunes likened “Pony” to “The Replacements in their prime, with two and a half minutes of straightforward rock ‘n’ roll.” The story that accompanies the rocking music is anything but straightforward, and the video teases out surprises only hinted at by the lyrics.
